JJ Loughran recently commissioned a 15Kw Danfoss Vacon 100 for a local meat processor. This design allowed start up and immediate stop for saw operator safety. Two simultaneous time limited points of contact had to be selected by the saw operator before the VSD would deliver power to the saw via the operator remote panel, working in conjunction with the VSD’s Safe Torque Off (STO) Card.

The Danfoss VSD also delivers 110VAC saw motor voltage from a 415V input supply, using the incredible functionality of the Danfoss drive. A bespoke braking resistor completed the package allowing the excess kinetic energy of the braking function to be safely taken away from the drive using its inbuilt brake chopper, maximising ramp down time in under 2 seconds.
